Two suspicious house fires, only blocks apart, under investigation

Two suspicious house fires from late Wednesday night are under investigation.

Just before 10:00 pm, Lethbridge police and fire responded to a house fire along the 900 block of 9th avenue north.

A total of 18 firefighters from three stations were able to extinguish the flames within an hour.

While crews were on scene, a woman approached a police officer and reported there had been several fires inside her home two blocks away that she had put out herself.

Firefighters spent about half an hour extinguishing hot spots inside her home along the 700 block of 9th avenue north.

No one was injured in either incident.

Combined damage is estimated to be around $70,000.
