Police look for witnesses of hit and run

Lethbridge police are looking to talk to anyone who may have witnessed a hit and run where a woman and her dog were hit by a vehicle on Sunday.

“On March 24, at approximately 1:16 p.m., police responded to a report that a woman and her dog had been struck by a vehicle in the area of 20 Avenue and Palm Rd S and the dog had been killed,” reads a news release from the Lethbridge Police Service.

Police say the Yorkie Terrier got away from the woman and they were both hit by a dark coloured vehicle that failed to stop for them. The woman was knocked over but not seriously hurt.

“Police canvassed the area for video surveillance and witnesses, but their efforts did not yield any results,” LPS says. “Members of Victim/Witnesses Services responded and provided the victim with assistance making arrangements for her dog to be transported to a local pet crematorium.”

Police ask anyone with information that could help locate the driver to contact them.
