A dozen local non-profits receive more than $500K in Community Capital Project Grant funding

Several not-for-profit organizations in Lethbridge have received funding through the Community Capital Project Grant. Receiving a combined nearly $520,000, 12 projects have been selected for the spring intake. 

Priority goes to projects that promote inclusive, diverse and equitable access to recreational, educational and wellbeing opportunities for community members. 

The Chinese National League Society is creating a cultural activity space to foster a sense of unity and cultural celebration. The total cost of the project is $633,505 and the grant amount of $200,000 was conditionally approved. 

The Canadian Mental Health Association retrofitted and made upgrades to multiple facilities to support health and safety risks for clients and staff. The total cost of the project is $30,123 with a grant amount of $9,940.59.

The Downtown Lethbridge BRZ’s grant amount of $38,902.50 goes towards the purchase of a refrigeration unit for the Festival Square outdoor community ice rink. The total cost of the project is $116,707.50. 

Henderson Lake Golf Club received $25,000 towards planning and design for a retrofit or new construction of future facility space. The total cost of the project is $78,750. 

The Henderson Stadium Society received $74,150 for facility expansion to update equipment and space to accommodate larger numbers of patrons and events. The total cost of the project is $222,458.58. 

A grant amount of $3,675 was received by the Hungarian Canadian Old Timers’ Society of Lethbridge for installation of new technology equipment to support health and safety of members and the community. The total cost of the project is $11,025.

The Interfaith Food Bank received $33,668.71 for retrofitting and renovating existing facility space to support and enhance crucial services. The total cost of the project is $107,262.23. 

The grant amount of $7,093.99 was awarded to the Lethbridge and District Music and Speech Arts Festival for modernizing facility equipment and furnishing to promote education, diversity and wellbeing. The total cost of the project is $21,496.95. 

The Lethbridge Fish and Game Association received $28,429 for repairing and/or replacing outdated equipment to help ensure programming sustainability and promotion. The total cost of the project is $85,559. 

The Lethbridge YMCA received $26,893.93 for retrofitting existing facility spaces to improve physical accessibility. The total cost of the project is $122,777.93.

An amount of $25,000 was awarded to the Lethbridge Soccer Association for funding towards a facility feasibility study for a new multi-sport facility. The total cost of the project is $55,000 to $75,000 

The Romulus and Remus Italian Canadian Club received $46,579.06 conditionally approved for upgrading the outdated facility and installing new equipment to enhance visibility and functionality. The total cost of the project is $139,737.16. 

Thanks to available grant funding, the City of Lethbridge is reopening intake to the grant program. Grant projects must be eligible for matching funds. The application deadline for the new grant intake is July 15.
