Wastewater pipe leak in the River Valley believed not to have impacted Oldman River

City crews are addressing a wastewater pipe leak in the River Valley.

According to City of Lethbridge officials, the leak is located northeast of the University of Lethbridge. According to officials, the leak is not a danger to public health or impact city services.

According to a statement from the city, “The area impacted by the leak is closed and the public is asked to stay outside the posted fencing and tape. Portions of the pathway will also be closed to facilitate the repair.”

City officials are working with Alberta Environment to put in place a response and repair plan. No wastewater is believed to have gone into the Oldman River, however sampling is being done for confirmation.

Depending on the weather, the repairs are expected to be completed within three weeks.
