Exhibition Way South pathway set for upgrades

The pathway along Exhibition Way South in Lethbridge is set for a makeover.

A construction project is scheduled to start at the south end of the street; it will see crews remove the aging timber retaining wall and pathway.

That will be followed by improvements to the surrounding landscape and infrastructure.

The project includes the following actions:

  • Removing the old timer retaining wall and the adjacent pathway;
  • Regrading of the earth berm behind the wall, which officials say will no longer require a retaining wall;
  • Installing a brand-new chain link fence;
  • Building a wider, smoother asphalt pathway for improved accessibility.

During this work, the existing pathway will be closed off to public access, with a pedestrian detour set up to guide community members around the work zone.

For drivers, alternating lane closures will occur along Exhibition Way South during the project, with two-way traffic maintained.

“We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this temporary speed bump,” the City of Lethbridge states in a news release.

Officials say the upgraded pathway will be ready in time for Whoop-Up Days, with the project slated to be completed by Friday, August 15, weather permitting.
