LPS reminding drivers to slow down in construction zones

After issuing nearly 50 tickets in just hours, and the summer road construction season in full swing, Lethbridge Police are reminding drivers to slow down in construction zones.

According to LPS officials, the tickets were issued during the Traffic Response Unit’s targeted enforcement initiative in the construction zone along Whoop Up Drive.

According to police, officers stopped dozens of motorists “for speeding between 20 and 30 km/h over the limit – with one driver clocked at over 45 km/h over as crews worked just feet away.”

Drivers are being reminded to slow down and drive cautiously. LPS officials are also reminding drivers that speed fines are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.
