A Lethbridge man arrested for allegedly breaching his bail conditions on the same day he was released has been remanded into custody.
The 50-year-old, who was originally charged with human trafficking and sexual assault, had his bail revoked by consent during a hearing on Jan. 26.
The most recent hearing was connected to a Jan. 13 indecent, where Lethbridge Police Service officials alleged the accused had been released earlier that day under conditions requiring him to reside at a court-ordered address. Police alleged the man failed to comply with that order and instead entered a store, where officers said they observed him in the perfume aisle in very close proximity to a young female. He was arrested shortly afterward.
During the hearing, the 50-year-old pleaded not guilty to the latest charges.
The accused was originally arrested by Lethbridge Police Service officers in December 2025 after police responded to reports that a 14-year-old girl was being held in an apartment on the city’s south side. Police said a man answered the door and officers located the girl inside the unit in medical distress. She was taken to hospital.
Police later executed a search warrant and located two additional teenage girls inside the apartment.
According to police, the 14-year-old reported she had been forcibly confined and sexually assaulted by the suspect and other men over a three-day period. Police alleged she was also forced to consume drugs during the assaults.
The two other teenagers were allegedly confined to the apartment for several hours, during which police said the suspect exposed himself.
Police also said the man is facing a separate sexual assault charge from October 2025 in connection with the alleged assault of a vulnerable 24-year-old woman.
His next court appearance is scheduled for early February.
