Residents in Lethbridge County can apply for dust suppresion on local roads.
Lethbridge County administration said it is accepting applications from landowners and businesses seeking dust suppresion on county-maintained roads next to their property.
County officials said that after reviewing the 2025 program, several changes will take effect this year. Weather permitting, intersection and general dust suppression will move from a spring schedule to August.
The county will also introduce a second intake period in the fall to help manage additional dust caused by harvest traffic and dry weather. Officials plan to begin accepting fall applications in May, with crews scheduled to apply the product starting in August.
Crews are expected to begin grading treated roads in mid- to late October in preparation for winter. Officials said the grading is necessary to fix wear on the road surface, improve conditions for snow clearing and maintain safe travel.
County director of operations Ryan Thomson said in a statement the suppression program is important to residents, landowners and farm operations in the community.
“After a robust review of past years’ programs, we determined that offering a second intake during the harvest season would be beneficial for the community,” Thomson said. “We are continually evaluating our processes to ensure that the services we provide are impactful, cost-effective, and driven by data-based decision-making.”
Applications are available on the county’s website or at the county office.
