It’s the ‘Battle of the Brews,’ as local seniors win through friendly fundraiser

Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO) and Nord-Bridge Seniors’ Centre are battling head-to-head with Battle of the Brews.

In partnership with Cupper’s Coffee & Tea, each organization has launched its own custom coffee blend, inviting you to sip, support, and cast your vote.

This friendly rivalry is about celebrating and supporting the two vital organizations that enrich the lives of older adults in Lethbridge.

Proceeds raised from each coffee sold support programming, services, and initiatives that foster connection, independence, and well-being for local seniors.

Nord-Bridge’s bold blend Get Off My Lawn goes up against LSCO’s smooth and timeless roast, Better with Age.

Nord-Bridge Executive Director David Ng said the real winners are the seniors.

LSCO Executive Director Kaitlynn Weaver added this fundraiser is timely, as the organization experiences unprecedent financial challenges. “As our organization navigates some real financial challenges, we’re especially grateful for partnerships like this that help make a direct impact.”

According to Weaver, the fundraiser runs through to the city’s Whoop-Up Days celebration.

“Whoever sells the most coffee will have to get the other executive director to wear a silly costume and serve pancakes at the winning organization’s pancake breakfast,” she noted.

Weaver said the brewing battle is a fun way to work together on something with some friendly competition. “Regardless of who wins, the seniors are the true winners.”

Both organizations were able to create a brand of coffee and put the brand on the bags of coffee. “It’s LSCO and Nord-Bridge branded, so it’s a fun way we can get our names out in the community and people love coffee. It’s a great fundraiser.”

You can purchase each blend at Cupper’s, or the LSCO and Nord-Bridge are selling their respective blends at each organization.
