A data breach has the Lethbridge Police Service suspending its participation in the Crime Stoppers program following a cybersecurity incident involving the organization’s tip management platform.
P3 Tips, operated by third-party provider Navigate 360, was compromised earlier this year after a data breach impacted Crime Stoppers submissions, including personal information identifying individuals who provided tips.
At this time, it’s unknown if anyone who provided tips to the southern Alberta chapter of Crime Stoppers has been affected by the breach.
LPS is closely monitoring the situation and will carefully review the findings of an investigation by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner before determining whether participation in the program will resume.
If you have information about a crime or public safety concern, please contact LPS directly.
Inquiries regarding the cybersecurity incident, scope of any affected information, or the measures being taken in response, should be directed to the Canadian Crime Stoppers Association.
