Some road work is starting, aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and to also increase traffic control measures around the new Park n’ Ride terminal being built downtown.
The City of Lethbridge says there will be a series of road closures and parking bans over the next two months. That will impact an around 5th Avenue South between 8th and 7th Streets.
There will be new signal lights installed as well as bulb out sidewalks. Work will begin in the alley at the northwest corner of the Park n’ Ride and will continue clockwise around the site. If all goes as planned, the work should be all done by the end of July.
The City says the project also includes a three level parking structure adding 293 stalls of needed downtown parking.
The Park ‘n’ Ride is expected to be operational by early September.
