OTTAWA, ON – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says people shouldn’t be worried about “the noise” around the COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
Trudeau says he wants to reassure Canadians the country is on track to meet the targets it set when it comes to vaccines.
He says he recently spoke with Pfizer and Moderna and both have committed to sending their promised combined six million doses by the end of March.
The federal government continues to feel heat from opposition parties and premiers regarding supply delays with COVID-19 vaccines.
Trudeau though isn’t wavering in the promised time lines, despite those concerns.
“We are very much on track to getting those six million doses of Pfizer and Moderna by the end of March as we predicted back in November,” the PM stated on Friday morning. “I speak to the CEOs of these vaccine companies and they’ve assured me they will meet the contract obligations by the end of March.”
They two companies also still plan on sending 20 million doses over the spring.
The concerns around vaccine rollout and procurement has been the main topic Canada since the start of 2021.
