Special weather statement issued for parts of Southern Alberta

A special weather statement has been issued for parts of Southern Alberta, with a substantial amount of snow possible in the middle of the week.

According to Environment Canada “The snow will be heavy and wet, and may be mixed with rain in some areas, so total snowfall amounts will vary widely.” The snow is reported to start Tuesday night and a possible 10 to 25 centimetres could fall before Thursday morning.

The special weather statement is for areas including the municipality of Crowsnest Pass, the M.D. of Pincher Creek near Beauvais Lake Provincial Park, the M.D. of Pincher Creek near Pincher Creek and Twin Butte, Cardston, Fort Macleod, Magrath and the Blood Reserve. The most snow is expected to fall on the higher areas west of Highway 2.
