Free lotto ticket redeemed in Lethbridge a big winner

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Calgary man is a million dollars richer after he lucked out with a lotto ticket he got here in Lethbridge.

Greg Gerla says he couldn’t believe his eyes when he scanned the ticket and realized he’d won on the Jan. 27 draw.

The winning ticket was actually a free one that he’d redeemed at Savers Convenience Store on the north side.

He returned a few days later and won $20 on one ticket, a free play on another, and then the $1 million surprise.

Gerla says he wants to save and invest some of his windfall as well as buy a new car.
