Taber Police team up with Citizens on Patrol for ‘lock it or lose it’ campaign

Taber police have teamed up with the Taber Citizens on Patrol group to raise awareness of theft from vehicles. The Taber Police Service (TPS) says there has been an increase in thefts from vehicles in the last two weeks and the majority of cases have involved unlocked vehicles.

The citizens on patrol group will conduct a “lock it or lose it” campaign on June 19th where volunteers will check vehicle doors to see if they are locked and if there are valuables left inside.

If vehicles are found to be unlocked, or valuables left in plain sight, a notice will be placed on the vehicle informing the owner that these precautions were not taken. Owners are also provided with crime prevention tips for the future. If the vehicle is locked, and valuables are out of sight, drivers will be left a notice praising them for taking precautions,” says the TPS
