UPDATE: Milk River ED temporarily closed over the holidays

UPDATE: The Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department will re-open for 48 hours, before temporarily closing again until the new year. According to Alberta Health Services, physician coverage was found from 8 a.m. Sunday, December 23rd until 8 a.m. December 26th, after the 26th the department will be closed until again until January 2nd.

Due to a lack of physician coverage, the Milk River Health Centre Emergency Department will be temporarily closed until 2024 starting Friday. According to Alberta Health Services, service interruption will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 22nd and the department is scheduled to re-open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024.

According to the provincial health authority, nursing staff will remain on-site for long-term care residents during the closure.

Emergency calls will be rerouted to the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge and Raymond Health Centre. Residents needing to access an ED are advised to use these two facilities or call Health Link at 811 for non-emergency health-related questions.
