UPDATE: Snowfall warning issued for southern Alberta

UPDATE: Environment Canada updated the snowfall warning just after 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 21st. Across Southern Alberta between 10 to 30 cm of snow is expected to fall by Friday morning. Communities that are closer to the U.S. border will reportedly see the heaviest snowfall throughout the day and into the evening on Wednesday, along with the possibility of freezing drizzle.

Drivers are being advised to slow down and drive to the changing road conditions.

Ten to 20 cm of snow is expected to fall by Friday morning, not just in the Lethbridge region but across southern Alberta.

According to the warning from Environment Canada “Areas along the southern foothills are likely to see the highest snowfall totals with amounts as high as 30 cm.”

Because of the snow, residents are being advised highways, roads, walkways and parking could be hard to navigate.

Drivers are advised to slow down on the roadways and watch for tail lights ahead while being prepared to stop.
