MP Thomas opens nominations for Community Builder Awards

Those who live in the City or County of Lethbridge and have someone they want to nominate for this year’s Community Builders Awards are now able to do so.

Member of Parliament for Lethbridge Rachael Thomas says she puts the call out every spring for nominations and sees numerous “heart-warming stories.” Some of these stories involve individuals, while others are businesses and not-for-profit organizations that give their time, resources and talents to make a difference in people’s lives.

“These folks don’t expect to be acknowledged or honoured in any way, which makes it extra special to recognize them. They serve selflessly for the sake of others and make a remarkable difference in our community. I look forward to celebrating them,” Thomas says.

Past nominees have included retirees, veterans, farmers, foster parents, educators, artists, athletes, social workers, coaches, entrepreneurs, emergency responders, and student volunteers, along with numerous others. The categories people can be nominated in include youth leader, adult leader, not-for-profit leader, and business leader, with the recipient being chosen by a panel of community members and honoured in the fall during a “special ceremony.”

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, May 17 and nomination forms can be picked up at Thomas’ office or can be done online.
