The number of people unemployed in the economic region, which includes Lethbridge, saw a decline from February to March.
According to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat region reported a 7.3 per cent of people were unemployed, which is down from the 8.2 per cent reported the previous month. That however is a 5.1 per cent bump from the same month last year.
However, Lethbridge’s economic region recorded the highest unemployment rate across the province and the Camrose-Drumheller region recorded the lowest unemployment rate with five per cent. Across Alberta, the number of people unemployed saw a 0.1 per cent bump from February to March, with a reported rate of 6.3 per cent, up over a percentage from March of last year which was 5.7 per cent.
