FresK-O Cheese makes a $200,000 deal on Dragons’ Den

A company operating in Lethbridge County landing a big deal on Dragons’ Den this week.

Owners of FresK-O Cheese, brother and sister duo Andreina and Oscar Chavez, appeared on the CBC show Thursday night (Oct. 24).

Their company produces a line of handmade Latin cheeses at a facility just outside Lethbridge, along Highway 4. FresK-O Cheese is currently sold in select grocery stores around Alberta, and the Chavezes were looking for a Dragon to partner with in order to grow their distribution.

They ended up accepting a deal with Arlene Dickinson for $200,000 and a 25-percent share in their business. Dickinson notes that her partnerships with major retailers across North America will help build the company, and she will also look at solving shipping challenges, ensure the product is properly displayed and help develop a better packaging design.

Andreina burst into happy tears at the end of the Dragons’ Den episode, saying it’s an amazing opportunity for FresK-O Cheese.
