City of Lethbridge continuing its outdoor patio and parklet program

Warm weather is on the horizon and so is patio season and the city is continuing its outdoor patio and parklet program.

The program was originally piloted in 2018 and supports businesses in expanding outdoor seating opportunities, increasing aesthetic appeal and help to attract more customers.

Feedback from the program has been positive from both businesses and the public.

The program has also gained attention from various municipalities and business improvement districts across North America and many have even used the program as a model to duplicate.

Businesses interested in exploring the program and its options do need to have a permit. A streamlined process is in place and information is available on the city’s website.

Also included in the program is a city-wide 50 per cent matching up to $1,000 for costs like plants, planters, furnishings, barriers, etc. for a patio or parklet.
