Man facing charges after $25k worth on fentanyl, weapons found during traffic stop on Blood Tribe

One man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop led to the seizure of more than $25,000 worth of suspected fentanyl and weapons on the Blood Tribe.

Blood Tribe Police Service officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on May 14 and arrested the man after he failed an alcohol screening test.

Police say there was 64 grams of suspected fentanyl in the vehicle, valued at $25,600. There was also $12,000 in cash, a shotgun, bear spray and edged weapons, according to police.

Dewey Dave Crow Chief, 43, of the Blood Tribe faces 12 offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a prohibited weapon, along with other firearms, weapons and driving offences.

He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Cardston later this month.
