The recent influx of rain has allowed Lethbridge County to lift fire restrictions. They were put in place earlier this summer because of hot and dry conditions and the county says its fire services department has been monitoring the situation closely.
“Although we are lifting the fire restriction, we want the public to be aware that with higher temperatures forecasted in the coming days, there is a probability that restrictions will need to be reestablished later this week,” says fire services manager Byron Fraser. “These higher temperatures can easily reverse any benefits gained from the recent precipitation.”
Fire permits are required for most burning activities and are free. They can be applied for online at the county’s website, on the Lethbridge County app or in person at the administration office.
