County commits to collaboration on Agrifood Hub and Trade Centre

Lethbridge County has committed to collaborating with the City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge and District Exhibition to stabilize operation of the Agrifood Hub and Trade Centre.

County council approved providing administration staff to sit on an interim governance board for the organization.

The board will be established if a memorandum of understanding is signed between the city and Exhibition before Jan. 19.

“The County remains a willing participant in regional collaboration,” says CAO Cole Beck. “The terms and conditions of the MOU will determine how we can best support the board positions and provide the appropriate expertise going forward. We are confident that our team can provide valuable insights and administrative assistance where necessary to help ensure the long-term success of the Agrifood Hub and Trade Centre.”

The county says it decided its seat on the existing board will be vacated to avoid a conflict of interest as the organizational transition unfolds.
