Police charge man with uttering threats after tactical team deployed at southside home

A 70-year old man is facing a charge of uttering threats after members of the Lethbridge Police Service tactical team were deployed at southside home.

Police were called to the 1200 block of 31 A Street South on Aug. 1, after an evicted tenant told the landlord he had a firearm.

“Police were called and evacuated one of the other suites inside the property as a precaution. During the investigation, police learned the male had previously threatened to shoot two other tenants,” reads a news release from LPS. “Members of the tactical team were deployed and the male was taken into custody without incident. Police recovered a BB gun from the home.”

Douglas Dwaine Courtoreille, 70, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of uttering threats. Courtoreille was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 14.
